One of the things I think people should understand is that Men are not oppressed. By no stretch.

Oppression is the cruel treatment of a certain race/gender/religious group over an extended period of time, by a governing or ruling power. 

that being said, this does not mean that misandry does not exist- in which I mean, discrimination against men, for being men, exists. That’s what misandry is. Misogyny is discrimination against women, for being women, and the Patriarchy is what came of widespread, consistent misogyny over a long period of time.  

You can be discriminated against, and not be oppressed. What one needs to understand is that one does not excuse the other. 

Simply because women are oppressed, does not give women the right to discriminate against men for being men. 

Just because women have always been oppressed, does not give men the right to discriminate against women for being women. 

Neither is OK. 

Thankfully most people are adult enough to understand that a few angry posts of women venting their frustrations about living in a non-equal society is completely fine, and obviously not misandrist. When women make huge sweeping generalizations and over-simplify large issues, that’s being misandrist. You’re not oppressing, you’re just discriminating. Either way, you’re still being an asshole, and need to stop that shit.

This also goes for men. Huge sweeping generalizations of women, and over-simplifications of issues such as rape are misogynistic. In this case it’s worse because you are contributing to the oppression of women. You also need to stop that shit. 

Equality.
